Michael Sherman is a past President of the Stamford/Norwalk Regional
Bar Association. He attended the University of Connecticut and its Law School. He
received his law degree in 1971.
He has served as an Assistant Public Defender in the Stamford Superior Court and
was later appointed as an Assistant Prosecutor where he served for four (4) years.
In 1976, he was appointed Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut.
He is a founding member of the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in
which he presently serves as an officer and Board member; a member of the American
Trial Lawyers Association, Connecticut Bar Association, American Bar Association,
National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; and a member/lecturer of the Connecticut
Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Sherman lectures on Criminal Law to various organizations including Bar Associations,
Victims' Organizations, Police Departments, and Corporate Bar Associations. He has
been the subject of several feature articles in publications such as The American
Lawyer, The National Law Journal, and The Connecticut Law Tribune.
In 1992 Mr. Sherman successfully defended a Vietnam Veteran in a muder trial using
the Post Tramatic Stress Syndrome (Vietnam) Defense. The case was the subject of
a CBS half-hour production entitled, "Verdict." It was also shown
in its entirety on Court TV. This trial was made the subject of a two hour "Trial
Story" for Court TV and was also reproduced by the BBC in London for viewing
in a series entitled, "America on Trial."
Mr Sherman has served as a host of "Inside The Law," a weekly one hour
national television show sponsored by the American Bar Association and the Reliance
National Corporation.
Mr. Sherman is a frequent Criminal Defense Expert Commentator for the Courtroom Television
Network as well as the CNBC Program, "RIVERA LIVE". hE HAS BEEN
FEATURED ON abc'S "20/20", NBC's "THE TODAY SHOW," new
York's "New York One," New York TV's "Newstalk,"
and ABC's "World News Tonight" as a Criminal Law Expert in
the O. J. Simpson case. The New York Daily News retained Mr. Sherman to write a commentary
relative to the notorious "Joey Buttafuacco" case. Mr. Sherman
has been a frequent quest on the Gill Gross Show, a nationally syndicated
CBS Radio program originating in New York City. He has also been frequently featured
as the resident legal expert on the ABC /Court TV Radio show, "Prime Time
OJ" which was broadcast nationwide nightly from ABC in New York during
the trial.
Notwithstanding media appearances and lectures, Michael Sherman maintains a very
active criminal trial practice routinely handling high profile cases of all types!
